This will remove any temporary files that may be causing the problem, but will not delete your files or settings.

1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN KEY for 2-3 seconds then POWER key then release.

2. The Motorola Photon Q will display different BOOT OPTIONS

3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to select

Tip: If the Motorola Photon Q reboots, you may have waited to long to make a selection, you will need to begin the process again.

4. The Motorola Photon Q will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark)

5. Press and hold the VOL UP key for 10-15 seconds. While still holding the VOL UP key tap and release the POWER key

Tip: You can try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 6, try a force reboot by pressing the Power key and Vol Down key, and start the process again.

6. The Motorola Photon Q will display additional menu options (Text will appear in BLUE)

7. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to wipe cache partition and the POWER Key to select this option

8. The Motorola Photon Q will then perform the partition wipe

9. The Motorola Photon Q will reboot and start the normal power up sequence

To enable this feature:

Check the box for USB Tethering (this option is not selectable while Wi-Fi is on, or unless connected to a USB cable)
You can tether your Motorola Photon Q to your computer with a USB cable to share your Motorola Photon Q’s internet connection with your computer.

Tethering works with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Linux.

In the unlikely event that your Motorola Photon Q becomes unresponsive, try a force reboot.

Warning: Don’t attempt to remove or replace the battery yourself doing so may damage the battery and could cause burning and injury.

To reboot the device, press and hold the power key + volume down key for 10 seconds.

Notes:
Data on your Motorola Photon Q will not be deleted.
Ensure that your Motorola Photon Q is charged to a minimum of 5%. If your battery is below 5% then the device will not power on. A device that is completely drained should be charged, for a minimum of 15-20 minutes, using the provided wall charger.

How to unlocking my Motorola Photon Q if i forgot my PIN or pattern

If you forgot the pattern or your PIN is not working, the Motorola Photon Q will allow you to log-in with the Gmail information you programmed into the Motorola Photon Q during setup.

You will need to try entering a pattern or PIN at least five times. If you fail to draw the correct unlock pattern or pin on the screen after five attempts, the Motorola Photon Q will prompt you to wait for 30 seconds before you can try again.

Press OK or wait for 30 seconds before attempting again.

After you press OK, the lock will come back again with a button on bottom right that states Forgot pattern.

Touch Forgot Pattern.

You will be prompted to sign in using your Google/Gmail account and then to create a new screen unlock. You can skip entering a new security lock.

If you forgot or are unsure about your Google password, but you know your Gmail login or Google account name, you can have Gmail send you a password change request link to your other email address through your computer, by following the steps below:

Please use a computer to visit http://www.gmail.com.
From the Gmail login page click on the “Can’t access your account?”
Follow the steps in that guide to recover your Gmail login information.
Once your login information is recovered, please use that information to unlock the Motorola Photon Q using initial steps above. If you recently created your Gmail account or changed its password, allow up to an hour to try the new password.

Note: You must have had a Gmail account setup on the Motorola Photon Q before you locked the handset to reset your PIN through Gmail.

How to reset my Motorola Photon Q?

In the unlikely event that your Motorola Photon Q becomes unresponsive, frozen, blank or black screen, or will not respond to the power button, you can perform a force restart or reboot on the device by following the steps below.

Press and hold the Power button and Volume up button for 20 seconds, the device will restart and go through the boot-up sequence.

Notes:
The forced restart or reboot will not delete any Data on your Motorola Photon Q.

Factory Data Reset is a tool used to remove everything that was imported, added or installed on the device. Keep in mind, when using this feature everything is deleted.

To reset your Motorola Photon Q:

1. Touch App

4. Touch Factory Data Reset

5. Touch Reset Phone

External Reset

If you are unable to access the Motorola Photon Q’s menu to perform the standard reset you can attempt an external factory reset.

WARNING: When using this feature; everything is deleted from the Motorola Photon Q.

NOTE: Reset will require a minimum battery level of 25%. If you are unable to perform a reset, please charge for 20-30 minutes and try reset again.

9. Once the Formatting is complete, press the POWER key to confirm a REBOOT

10. The Motorola Photon Q will reboot and start the normal power up sequence

To capture your Motorola Photon Q’s screen, press and hold both the Power and Volume down key for three seconds, or until you hear the camera shutter click.

To see the screen image, touch Apps > Gallery > Screenshots

Touch and hold the image for files and sharing options, which will be at the bottom of the screen.
